Upstate pediatricians and pediatric emergency medicine physicians will care for your child in an environment that reflects the Upstate Golisano standard for excellence. Our friendly and experienced staff will make your child's visit with us as pain-free as possible. For those times, there's Upstate Golisano After Hours Care, the region's only pediatric urgent care center.ĭesigned especially for children from birth through age 21, we can help your child start feeling better - faster. There are times when minor injuries or illnesses need attention and your own doctor isn't available - and your child's problem doesn't require an emergency room visit. Golisano After Hours Care (Pediatric Urgent Care, Community Campus) It's decorated with whimsical designs and generous splashes of color, all aimed at lessening the anxiety for young patients. The space has been designed and furnished with kids in mind with plenty of gaming systems for all ages. The renovated space also has its own pediatric-friendly diagnostic radiology unit, meaning children do not have to leave the unit for some diagnostic tests. The Pediatric Emergency Department sees about 27,000 visits annually. It now features 18 private exam rooms with a capacity to serve 24 patients. Opened in August 2016, the new Pediatric Emergency Department doubled the size of the former Pediatric ED and relocated it to the hospital's fourth floor, making it separate from the adult emergency department. Pediatric Services Pediatric ED (Downtown Campus) Patients who require hospitalization are admitted to either Downtown or the Community Campus based on their medical needs. Any patient brought to the Community Campus who requires services from Downtown will be moved seamlessly though our system. Now referred to as Upstate University Hospital's Community Campus, its Emergency Department complements the downtown services in a quieter setting. Upstate acquired the former Community General Hospital, just 3.5 miles from its downtown campus. Upstate handles all types of medical emergencies and cares for patients transported by ground or air from throughout the Central New York region. As the region's only level-one trauma center, the facility offers state-of-the-art technology to care for critically ill or injured patients. The Emergency Department at Upstate University Hospital’s downtown campus sees more than 67,000 patients per year.
